Two milestones

Emily just reached two major milestones in her development. First, she is learning to pull herself into the standing position. For the past few days Emily was starting to pull herself up on us, but yesterday was the first time she successful stood up by pulling herself up on the couch. All 28 inches of her were standing up, tall and proud!

The other milestone, I'm not sure you'll find on any developmental chart, but it sures makes any father proud! She now knows how to turn on the TV in our bedroom. Every morning Emily comes into our bed and we play for about 30 minutes before heading down for breakfast. We have a whole crew of animals and books including Quincy Quakers (large yellow duck) and Mr. Monkey (Ithaca Monkey) that she loves to play with and now added to this mix is the television remote. She used to just play with it, as she would a telephone, but now she knows how to actually use it! Now, if we can only get her to turn on something entertaining instead of Barney, we'd be all set. There is nothing like Barney at 6:30 AM to get your day off on the right foot.
