Emily's Pennsylvania Baby Naming

On Sunday we had Emily's Pennsylvania baby naming down in Yardley with family and friends. We lucked out and had the most beautiful day and were able to have the service outside on the patio. Emily was so good the whole service, especially considering it was her nap time. She made it through the whole service but at the end she had, had enough, plus it was time to eat. She started fussy a bit until everyone started singing Simen Tov u Mazel Tov - she loved all of the singing and clapping!

Andy and I choose the Hebrew name Rayah, which means beloved woman, friend. We choose an "R" name to honor my grandmother Ruth. I spoke with the Rabbi on Saturday to talk through the details of the service and he asked me if I could hope Emily would embody any of my grandmother's qualities what would I wish for. I told him simply, if Emily is anything like my grandmother I would be thrilled. She was always the most loving, caring and warm individual. She always saw the best in everyone and took great interest in what we were doing. She was very attentive and loved to play with us. She was wonderful and is greatly missed!

The Rabbi also mentioned that Emily's birth name is also in honor of a lot of wonderful people. We choose the name Emily in honor of Andy's sister, Emily and the middle name Madison in honor of my grandmother, Marie, and Andy's grandfather, Mervin and grandmother, Marion. She is one lucky girl!
All dressed and ready for her party!

First trip to Yardley!

We just got home yesterday from a wonderful trip to Yardley. It was Emily's first time meeting the Yardley crew and visiting Nana Jo and (Pjimmy, PJ, Papa Jimmy)'s house. She had a great time! Papa Jimmy was telling Emily stories about the family and she thought it was hilarious! We like to think she understood what he was saying and was laughing because she knew everything he was saying was true.

Emily was also SO lucky to have a chance to meet her Great Grandfather Irving. He was overjoyed and said meeting her was the "happiest day of his life." Emily was also thrilled because Grandpa was watching football, her favorite! She couldn't even take her eyes off of it long enough to face me for the picture.

More Shots :(

Poor Emily had another round of shots on Thursday. Since I didn't capture her Dora bandaids before, I made sure I did this time. Andy and I were upset but she took them like a champ!

Still a happy girl even on the day of her shots!

Laughing Girl

Today Emily laughed for the first time and it's the sweetest sound...Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jared

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate Jared's 31st birthday. We had a delicious meal at Rraci's in Brewster and Emily gets an A+ for her behavior. She ate, hung out and slept a while, so I would say it was a success and makes me feel confident that we can actually go out to dinner once in a while. She even made a little present in her diaper for Jared while he was holding her :)
How I lost my baby weight... I just eat veggies! NOT, bring on the steak :)

Busy Week...

We had a very busy, but fun week. On Tuesday, Emily and I went to our first Mom's group meeting. This is a group through Danbury Hospital that meets weekly and provides support to new moms and also a great way to meet other people and help answer each other's questions. The babies there ranged from 5 days old to 6 months. It was amazing to see the tiny babies and imagine that she was ever that small. During the two hour group she managed to eat, sleep, poop and play, so I would say it was a success :)
I also worked 4 days this week, a few at my old job and two nights at Positive Energy (dance studio). It was the most I have worked since Emily was born and boy was I tired. It was also the most I have been away from her since she was born and while it was a nice break and an opportunity to have some adult conversation, I really missed my little lady. I feel so lucky to be able to stay home with her.

This weekend we enjoyed Rosh Hashanah with both the Glantz and Kotlen families. Though dinner time is not Emily's best she was great and enjoyed seeing the family, especially her cousins!

Emily had really discovered her hands over the past week or so and loves to grab everything she can get her hands on, including her shirt (see below) I think we have a flasher on our hands!

Here are a few of the latest pictures we have taken...

2 Month Check-Up

On Friday, Emily had her 2 month check-up at the doctor. I was certainly not looking forward to the shots part, but I was really curious to see how much she had grown this past month. Last month, the doctor was concerned she hadn't gained that much weight since birth, so this appointment was important. Well the little munchkin did not let us down :) She had gained over 2 pounds this past month and now weighs 11lbs 10oz and grew 2 inches, now 23 inches long. I was a bit concerned because her head size is in the 90th percentile, while her height and weight are in the 75th, hopefully it won't stay that way forever! The doctor was really impressed with her head control and said she was just perfect! Not that he had to tell me that :)

She did take the shots like a champ and after a few tears, she's now sporting two very adorable Dora bandaids, one on each leg. She was a big out of sorts yesterday afternoon, but after a good night's sleep (thanks to some tylenol) she seems to be back to her happy self.
