For some reason this morning as I was hanging up the phone with my mom, Emmy said, "Bye, Bye Debby". I knew she understood that Papa's name was Bob because we had been talking about it in Florida, but I had no idea she knew Mimi's name was Debby. So you could imagine my surprised! I rushed to get the camera so I could capture it on film!

Run, Charlie, Run!
I know I have said it before but Emmy's obsession with Charlie far surpasses that of any human being. She kisses and hugs him all day long and asks for him from the moment she wakes up. I think if he could actually get her out of the crib in the morning she would be beside herself with joy. Here is just a glimpse into poor (and I mean, poor) Charlie's day
Shower!
It started a few weeks ago but every time I go to take a shower now I have a little person who wants to join me. She thinks it's really fun and while I don't mind the company, occasionally, now she has decided to bring toys down, so I'm thinking this is getting serious, haha! In some ways it makes my mornings easier because I don't have to worry about her while I take a shower, but it's hard in other ways because I now have to spell shower if I want to take one alone and need to do it while she is in a confided space, ie: her highchair or shower. Regardless, it's super cute and her are some photos to prove it.

NYC Half-Marathon!
This past weekend I ran my first half-marathon! I was so proud of what I had accomplished and was so happy to see Andy, Em, Alexis & Corey waiting for me at the end. Anytime I would question myself during the run, as to whether I had enough strength to finish, I would just think of Emmy. I was thinking to myself, if she asked me if she could do it, I would OF COURSE tell her she could and not let her give up on what she had worked so hard on. This was a great lesson for myself and I thought of this the whole way. If I wouldn't let her give up I certainly wasn't letting myself give up. I pushed through and I DID IT!!!
Besides just the run we were able to enjoy some of the city as well. We had to leave early Sat morning so I had time to pick my race materials. This was a plus because we were able to spend time with Jared, Corey & Alexis and also meet Payton & her family for some playtime in Central Park. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time!

I'm at a loss...we'll I used to be :)
I used to pride myself on understanding at least 99% of everything that Em said. Andy used to comment on how well I understood her and how amazing it was and I would respond with, "well that's my job". If I didn't understand her, I wouldn't be good at my job. It wasn't just words that I understood, it could have been a sign, a motion, gesture, etc. You name it, for the most part I understood it.
Well, those days seem to be in the past now and I guess I need some more "training". In the past few weeks I seem to be at a loss on a lot of things. She is starting to say two words together, in a mini sentence, but instead of sometimes two separate words, they seem to be 2 words combined into 1, hence my troubles. It's frustrating for me and I'm sure for her, as well, when she so emphatically repeats the word over and over again knowing perfectly well what she wants and just getting annoyed at my constant requests for her to repeat herself.
I can proudly say that there has been some success along the way. While in Florida, we would sing Old McDonald in the car so Em wouldn't fall asleep before nap times. Besides Emma (if you will remember from a previous post), there was also "ca ca" on the farm just as many times. "Ca Ca"?!?! What the heck is that? I tried to ask her to repeat the names of people or animals we knew with C names and I always came up unsuccessful. I was still at a complete loss until just the other night. While reading her "Tuck Me In" book with daddy, he turned the page and saw the peacock and she pointed and said "ca ca". YAY!!! The mystery has been solved (well at least this one). He came running down to tell me, with this grin on his face, as if he was a cat that just ate a mouse. I guess it continues to still be the little things in life, and yes, I rested a little easier that night :)

Florida Again!
We just got home last week from another trip to Florida, we are two lucky girls! We had a great time and the weather was, dare I say it, PERFECT! We were able to be outside a lot and though Emmy still hates, with a capital H, the sand she absolutely loves the pool. Our friends Sandra & Payton came down for a few days as well and the girls were so happy to see each other everyday and be able to play, it was adorable!

Emmy always wants Payton to sit on her lap, and Payton wasn't in the mood, so Emmy decided to sit on her!

What happens when you try to put her down in the sand. I know this was mean, but we needed it documented!

The princess sits on her yoga mat so she wouldn't get any sand on her.
